The Movuno.com Halsall Racing Team is gearing up for the return of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship this weekend as the UK’s premier motorcycle racing series heads to Snetterton.
Riders Tommy Bridewell and Tom Ward will be in action aboard their Suzuki GSX-R1000 machines at the Norfolk track, as they tackle the Superbike and Superstock classes, and both are ready for the challenge.
In the Superbike series, Bridewell is keen to build on his previous progress and top 10 results to climb closer to the sharp end, as the championship regroups after a six-week break.
“I’m looking forward to getting back out there and focusing on the racing,” he said. “It seems a long time since I was on the bike, but I’m really excited to get back and start pushing harder. “Snetterton is a strange track for me in as far as it’s not one I particularly like, yet I’ve had some strong results there. I always tend to go well there and I’m confident that once we’ve sorted a few things out in the early practice sessions, we should be able to make some strong progress. “I’m excited to get back with the team and get stuck in. With the break out of the way it means we can focus on the season ahead and look to get closer to the front where we need to be.”
In the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 series, Tom Ward is confident Snetterton will be his best round yet. Having spent the first three rounds familiarising himself with the 1000 machine following a successful few seasons in 600s, he is keen to bag a points finish this weekend. “I can’t wait to get back, it’s been far too long,” he said. “I managed to get a little bit of testing in after Oulton, and I think we’ve really been able to turn a bit of a corner with it.
“I really felt like we’d made some great ground and I think this will be my strongest round yet. I like Snetterton, I’ve won there in the past in the Triumph Triple Challenge and Superstock 600 championship so I think I could have a really good weekend. “I’m feeling the most confident I have all season and there’s definitely a lot of potential for us to do well.”
Team owner, Bolton-based entrepreneur Martin Halsall, is looking forward to getting back to action. During the break, the team’s Yamaha R6 was out on Isle of Man TT duties with rider Daley Mathison, but now the focus is 100 per cent back on the short circuits. “I’m looking forward to Snetterton, it’s been a long wait since Oulton Park and I think everyone is keen to be back,” he said. “We are coming into the fourth round with a renewed energy, and everyone wants to do well. “The team has had time to work on the areas we felt needed improving and we are arriving this weekend eager to push forward as much as we can. There’s already been a lot of hard work but now we need to dig deeper. “The whole team is fighting towards the same goal and I’m confident we can really make big strides forward at Snetterton. The riders have both been successful around there in the past, and I feel we can work towards three very strong points finishes this weekend.”
