FRANCIS GEARING UP FOR BRANDS BATTLE

The Movuno.com Halsall Racing team and rider Joe Francis head to Brands Hatch this weekend feeling optimistic ahead of the next round of the Dickies British Supersport Championship.

Following his second-place finish at Snetterton almost three weeks ago, Francis is raring to go as the season reaches the half way point at the iconic Kent track.

After being denied what could have been his maiden win for the team when mechanical problems struck as he led the Feature race at Snetterton, the 19-year-old from Chester is looking to make amends.

Francis has always liked the Brands Hatch GP track, and scored two podiums last time he raced there in October last year, so hopes he can get straight back on a charge when the series resumes this weekend.

“I’m feeling really good, particularly after we got our first podium at Snetterton,” he said. “Now I feel we can move on from there and what happened in the Feature race, and go to Brands Hatch looking for two podiums if not more.

“I think we’ve shown in the last four races at Knockhill and Snetterton that we have the pace to run at the front now, and hopefully our run of bad luck is behind us. Ever since the wildcard race at World Supersport in May, we’ve been consistently fast and have run in the top three in every session.

“I like the big track at Brands Hatch, last time I raced there I was on the podium in both races, so there’s no reason we can’t expect more of the same this time. I’m looking forward to it.”

Team owner Martin Halsall is excited about the weekend ahead, and believes a podium if not a win could be on the cards.

“The whole team is really looking forward to Brands Hatch, especially after Joe did so well at Snetterton,” he said. “If you take out the DNF, he really showed his pace and demonstrated what he is certainly capable of.

“The team heads to Brands in a very positive position with what should be a very good bike, so let’s hope we can get some more podiums or even the win here.”

The Movuno.com Halsall Racing team’s weekend will get underway with free practice this Friday, July 21 followed by qualifying and the 12-lap Sprint race on Saturday and the main 18-lap Feature race on Sunday.
