FRANCIS AND HALSALL TEAM CHASING PODIUMS AT THRUXTON

The Movuno.com Halsall Racing team plans to come out fighting at Thruxton this weekend, as the Dickies British Supersport Championship enters the second half of the season.

Rider Joe Francis heads to the Hampshire track hoping to improve on his third and fourth place finishes at Brands Hatch just under a fortnight ago, where he was left frustrated after struggling with grip in the second race.

The 19-year-old from Chester is looking to make amends this time out, and is keen to climb higher up the podium in both of this weekend’s races.

“I was disappointed that we couldn’t climb any higher than fourth in the last race at Brands Hatch, especially when I know I’m capable of much more,” he said. “This weekend I just want to get back up there in the top three and keep finishing up there.

“It’s not been the easiest starts to the season but this is the seventh round, and now that we’re into the second half of the year, hopefully all our issues are behind us.

“I’ll be going out looking for podiums and hopefully a bit more. I’m sure we can get two good results at Thruxton this weekend and I’m ready for the challenge.”

Team owner Martin Halsall believes the rider, team and bike are all ready to finally start reaping some rewards for their hard work this year.

“I’m very confident going into round seven at Thruxton,” he said. “It’s a quick circuit, and I really think we can go well there.

“I believe our bike will have the power at this fast, flowing track and I know Joe is really fired up and ready.

“I really hope the team can get what we deserve this weekend. Everyone involved has been working extremely hard and we still haven’t had the finish we really want. Hopefully, this will be the weekend where we can turn the corner and we can start the second half of the season where we mean to go on.”

Round seven of the Dickies British Supersport Championship roars into action with free practice this Friday, August 4 followed by qualifying and a 12-lap Sprint race on Saturday. The weekend culminates with the 18-lap Feature race on Sunday.
