The Movuno.com Halsall Racing Suzuki team is gearing up for its annual visit to Cadwell Park, with riders Chrissy Rouse and Tom Ward eager to get back in action.
The Bennetts British Superbike Championship returns to the unique Lincolnshire circuit this weekend, and Rouse admits he can’t wait to head to his favourite track on the calendar.
It will be the Geordie’s first visit riding a Superbike, and the 22-year-old hopes to build on his previous strong results there as he continues to get to grips with the team’s Suzuki GSX-R1000.
And following his top 10 finish at Thruxton a fortnight ago, he is keen to do the same again and perhaps climb higher up the order in what will be his fourth race meeting.
“I absolutely love Cadwell so I’m really excited about this weekend,” he said. “I want to build from where we left off at Thruxton and I certainly want to be back in the points with two strong finishes.
“A lot of the teams have already tested there this year, so I know I’m going to have to spend Friday’s free practice sessions finding my feet a little.
“However, the team is brilliant and I know they’re all there to help push me forward, so I’m confident that we’ll be back on fighting form by the time we get into Sunday’s races. I can’t wait to get stuck in and hopefully have another strong weekend.”
Canterbury’s Tom Ward, meanwhile, will be back in Pirelli National Superstock 1000 action aboard the team’s second Suzuki. The 23-year-old got a taste of Cadwell Park on his practice bike at last month’s Moto Time Attack event and now hopes to take what he learnt and challenge for another solid top 10 finish.
“On paper, Cadwell is usually a good one for me but I don’t want to jinx it!” he said. “I’ve already had a test there on my practice bike so hopefully I should have a good base to start from.
“I’m really excited to get out there and spin some laps on my race bike on what really is a mega track. I’ve been training hard and working on some of the things which have been holding me back previously, so I’m keen to see if it works. Fingers crossed, it’s going to be a fantastic weekend.”
Team manager Colin Wright is also looking forward to the weekend. “Cadwell is a totally different track to Thruxton but it’s one that everyone loves,” he said. “It’s popular with fans and riders alike but it can be a real challenge.
“It will be Chrissy’s first time there on a Superbike but I know he loves the track and will be working hard. We’ve already seen what he is capable of, and now it’s time to get our heads down and push on.
“Tom has already had some track time there this year and he’s very determined to get his best finish of the year, so we’re looking good and I think we can have another good weekend.
“We’re at an important time in our season now. We aren’t a ‘new’ team anymore, so we need to be working hard to push ourselves as much as we can and hopefully this will show in our results.”
